IKEA is taking huge steps in its digital transformation and our Data Stewards are working in cross-functional teams to transform IKEA into a more data driven company by ensuring our analytics is built on world-class data!

You like problem solving and supporting others with data. You are not afraid to innovate to find a better way to do things. And you like working with people to find lasting solutions. All the while you solve real problems for IKEA customers and co-workers.

You are a hands-on (Senior) Data Steward with a great understanding of both data and people.

You will join a diverse team within Data & Analytics consisting of data analysts, data scientists, data engineers, data stewards, and machine learning engineers based across Sweden, Netherlands and Spain.

You recognize yourself in the following:

• Are a curious world class problem solver who wants to keep learning!

• Consider data to be the starting point for solving (almost) any business problem

• Ability to define and implement logic (e.g., via SQL and regular expressions) to do data validation and build data quality metrics

• Knowledge of modern tools and principles for Data Governance at scale in an industry setting

• Conceptual knowledge of data models (e.g. hierarchical, relational) and ability to translate them into practical improvements

• Extensive knowledge of common issues related to data quality, and how to improve them

• Good knowledge of data ethics related challenges in society and how they impact operations in IKEA (collection, storage and usage)

• Extensive understanding of data privacy regulatory frameworks, and how to actively work with compliance at IKEA in different markets

• Are passionate about the possibilities of Data & Analytics and the value it can generate for business

This is our wish list! If you don’t recognize yourself in all these points, you might still be an excellent candidate for the role. We like to think long-term and invest in people’s development together with us.
The IKEA culture and values are very much a part of our business and day to day work life. For you to thrive and grow with IKEA it’s important for us that you share our values! You can read more regarding our values and life at IKEA on our website www.ikea.com.

You’ll lead the transformation of IKEA into a more data-driven company by ensuring that we have the right data, in the right place and at the right time. As a natural part of the product development within the Customer Domain in IKEA you enable high speed in solving data issues and support decision making with high-quality data.

For example, we are working to solve problems like:

• How can we be quicker in spotting issues in data quality?

• How can we motivate the people around us to take care of their data, and be just as excited as us about the opportunities that the data present?

• How can we make it easier to use the data we have?

• How can we ensure that the right people have access to the right data at the right time?

• How can we maximize learning from our data, and at the same time ensure that we continue to have Data Ethics as our main priority?

You will work in Data & Analytics together with data analysts, data scientists, data engineers, data stewards, and machine learning engineers. Together you will be joining cross-functional teams consisting of colleagues from Technology, Product and Design from the domain. All of you together will be creating the best solutions to serve our customers with a frictionless buying journey across all touchpoints.

We see so many opportunities for what we can accomplish and have the ambition to be a world class team. At the same time, we believe that our work is not just about solving business problems, but also about learning and having fun together.

• Work on some very interesting problems as described above, and you are encouraged to spot new opportunities or to collaborate with Data & Analytics colleagues in other specialist teams

• Opportunities to have global impact with your work

• Flexible and modern tools: we deploy on Google Cloud Platform and we use a lot of open source tools across the board
