About IKEA Retail Experience:

lead IKEA's way to present and sell the range in all customer meetings by maximizing commercial success; IKEA's way for customer engagement, services and IKEA Food experience and IKEA's way of fulfilling the range across all customer meeting places & homes. Besides that, leading the common innovation & development processes, methodology & follow up for the customer meetings and leading the creation of the IKEA Concept content across the leadership assignments and follow up of the IKEA Concept implementation across all franchisees.

In this role, we look for people with extensive experience in the field of communications including leading business topics and processes needed to drive effective communications, having worked with and developed strategic business and internal communication. We see that strong values-based leadership, including seniority in leading people, teams and/or matrixes and topic areas in complex and changing environments is a needed foundation.

Job description

This position will report to IKEA Expansion Manager and IKEA Retail Experience Manager for Core Business Franchise (CBF) and sit in two management team. The main tasks of the assignment are to:

  • Drive, lead and plan the communication agenda for the leadership areas, esp. the business priorities: identify key messages, develop communication plans to meet short- and long-term needs, and help to develop communication deliverables to make the plans reality
  • Secure a transparent and sustainable information/communication flow throughout leadership areas, CBF and to stakeholders across the IKEA network.
  • Coach and support co-workers and leaders to communicate effectively and contribute to development of the total information landscape across different channels.
  • Contribute to a shared communication agenda and identify opportunities for alignment within a function, across units and across the IKEA network.
  • Partnership with People & Culture to create a high co-worker engagement through leading with communication.

Qualification

To be successful, being able to lead in an inspiring, engaging way by co-creating with others and enabling forward-looking, continuous development is your natural approach. You have vast experience working in and leading complex business and communication processes and a recognised ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and engaging way with a down-to-earth, simple tone of voice. Your experience shows a deep understanding of how strategic and tactical communication contributes to business development as well as people engagement, and better results and a solid track record working with digital communication channels and in a senior management team. You deliver on high expectations through collaborating and engaging people with different competences in a complex and fast paced environment and are as passionate as you are skilled in co-creating better ways forward. In particular:

  • You are very adept in building trusting relationships, networks, and long-term partnerships with stakeholders at all levels. You have a proven track record in delivering results through others, making complex tasks and processes understood and actionable.
  • You have extensive experience leading business and people in a complex and a fast-changing environment. You also have a strong understanding of how communication enables change.
  • You enjoy sharing your knowledge and feel confident supporting colleagues across our organisation in developing their communication competence.
  • You bring solid knowledge and understanding of B2B communication, communication channel landscape (especially digital channels and online events), visual guidelines, and tone of voice.
  • You can facilitate and/or moderate different types of meetings, workshops or discussions.
  • You are recognised for well-developed strategic and analytical skills. At the same time, you know how to roll up your sleeves and get things done.
  • You are a true role model when it comes to leading with the IKEA values.
  • You have led business, crisis, change or internal communication in an international environment. 
  • You know all about communication and business planning.
  • You love translating complicated topics into clear messages, and then into strong briefs. You're a superstar when it comes to communication production processes, and you are able to lead others (internally, or external suppliers) in making great work. 
  • You know how to develop an internal channel landscape, and work with it actively (strong digital focus is a plus).
  • Your English (written and spoken) is excellent.

More Information

This position is a full-time (40 hours per week)  locating in Delft, Netherlands, though some travel may be required.
